Stable Futures

Amegreen has an Equine Assisted Therapeutic Service which promotes healing from trauma using our twelve incredible horses and ponies. Our center is local to all the homes and all young people have access to the service.

Our skilled and experienced staff understand both the young people and the horses. They create a safe space for young people to process emotions, rebuild their sense of self, and develop a trusting and beneficial relationship with the horses.

Many young people withdraw from therapy or talking openly, especially before they have built trust with the person delivering it. Horses don’t require young people to talk verbally in order to begin a trusting relationship, horses live entirely in the present, offering patience, forgiveness and second chances. All things young people need to be able to heal from their adverse childhood experiences.

Through positive experiences with the horses, the young people will build confidence, self-esteem and a new belief in themselves, which helps them to realise their potential and their ambitions.

Our services are extended to the local community, and we are able to take referrals from professionals and parents.

Outdoor Learning

Stable Futures offers bespoke Outdoor Learning and therapy programs for children and young people who are struggling to get into full time education for a variety of reasons.

Stable Futures was originally set up to support Residential Children’s Homes with the effects that trauma bring our vulnerable children in society. However, we soon realized that many children and young people have adverse experiences which lead to low self-esteem, low confidence and trouble building safe and trusting relationships with peers, adults, and themselves. This can affect their education and motivation to learn and participate.

Our bespoke Outdoor Learning and Therapy packages incorporate the following:

  • Time with the horses.

  • Tailored Therapy.

  • Life skills.

  • Independence skills.

  • Activities to build confidence and self-esteem.

  • Horticulture

  • Animal care

  • Hands on outside activities.

  • If your child is interested in a particular topic or activity, we will incorporate it into learning plans.

  • Support with transitioning into further education, mainstream education or a new placement.

Our main aim is to support the children and young people to realize their ambition and have the confidence to move forward and reach their individual goals.
