Jasper House hits the hat-trick from Ofsted
A children’s home in North Hampshire is celebrating after receiving an ‘Outstanding’ Ofsted award for the third year running.
Jasper House is a three-bedroom home for youngsters aged between five and 18 with social, emotional and mental health issues.
Run by Amegreen Children’s Services, Jasper House was awarded the Outstanding rating in all three assessment categories. The report said the home provides highly effective services, contributing to significantly improved outcomes and positive experiences for children and young people who need help, protection and care.
Based near Reading, independent Amegreen provides a community of nine small, bespoke children’s homes across rural West Berkshire and Hampshire for some of the most vulnerable children in society, all referred by the local authority.
Ofsted reported that the children at Jasper House receive exceptional care from dedicated, skilful staff, who have created an environment where the children feel safe and secure.
It reported: “Children living in this home make exceptional progress. They thrive as a result of the excellent standards of care delivered by a highly skilled and dedicated staff team. Children benefit from the strong relationships they have with staff and are confident to seek out staff for guidance and support. Children thoroughly enjoy being with the staff. Children and staff demonstrate affection towards one another. This creates an environment that mirrors a family home as closely as possible.”
Director of Amegreen Children’s Services Rachel Redgwell said: “The UK, and in particular our region, desperately needs more homes like ours to help vulnerable youngsters who can’t be looked after at home, but that benefit from being close to their families.
“We ensure that our homes are specifically chosen to meet the needs of each child, whether they have learning disabilities, mental health concerns, or have experienced significant loss and trauma.
“I’m delighted that Ofsted has also reported how hard our teams work to build connections with the local community, and how the children have been welcomed into the neighbourhood. This is so important to us at Amegreen.
“I’m so proud of all the team behind Jasper House, to get three, consecutive Outstanding awards from Ofsted is an amazing achievement and a recognition of all their hard work.”
